China raises reserve requirements

The People`s Bank of China announced the second reserve requirement increase of the year on Friday with the 50 basis point adjustment due to take effect on February 24. The increase will bring the reserve requirement level for most major financial institutions to a record 19.5%. The reserve requirement was increased six times in 2010.
